Seven photographers have been applying their unique photographic perspectives to the resurgence of burlesque as performance art.
Working with new and established local and international performers in a variety of settings in Toronto and Montréal, they’ve assembled a body of work that explores the new burlesque.
We are proud to have presented the results of our work. The Velvet Divide – The Art of Burlesque ran from October 26, 2010 until November 14 at the Hang Man Gallery, 756 Queen Street East. The opening reception on Thursday October 28, 2010 had a terrific turnout.
For some of us the work is ongoing. A sample is presented here, and you can find more by visiting the artists' individual websites.
